Founded in 1984 as a research and evaluation firm devoted to furthering basic and applied social science research, SSRE has been awarded grants and contracts funded by federal, state, and local governments and agencies, foundations, and community agencies and organizations to address issues such as substance misuse prevention, opioid overdose prevention, injury prevention, suicide prevention, mental health promotion, training/technical assistance (T/TA) center evaluation, and community health surveillance.
SSRE’s proficiency results from a commitment to providing the best possible service in a timely fashion and in the most cost-effective manner. SSRE staff are trained in quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation methods and utilize state-of-the-art statistical software packages, online survey and database technologies, and reporting and presentation software. Our staff hold multiple professional memberships such as The Society for Prevention Research and American Evaluation Association and routinely monitor prevention and evaluation related peer-reviewed journals to remain current on emerging content.
SSRE’s mission is to advance community wellness by conducting basic and applied research, organizing results into publishable material, and presenting findings to professional and lay audiences. Our overarching goal is to demystify the conduct of research and evaluation in a way that supports actionable decision-making and results in the application of evidence-informed programs, policies, and practices that maximize health and behavioral health outcomes. We are committed to the three core principles of (1) collaboration – customizing our approach to each implementing site, remaining responsive to the strengths and needs of all populations, including those historically marginalized and oppressed, (2) utility – focused on outputs, outcomes, impact, and continuous quality improvement, and (3) integrity – grounded in an evidence-informed public health approach, informed by cutting edge research, and rigorous in design.
